Patterns: The story behind it

Here’s how it started

It was exam preparation time, which meant that at any given point, I had a piece of  paper and a pen in hand…and I always found it easier to doodle than to study….very soon I was at it and doing it in a certain pattern…not just random strokes…this whole exercise was extremely stress busting and a lot of fun… unlike the portraits this was really quick…in a matter of a few minutes some new designs were ready…I wasn’t sure what I was doing, whether this was qualified as art (to this day I am not sure what category of art it falls under)…not that I cared one bit …the point was to have fun and I was having lots of it…

Starting from there I developed a style which evolved over time…however the basics always remained the same…the base was always a black pen…a cello gripper – a very fine tipped pen…with colors used sparingly…the latter ones took  longer to finish as I had started detailing them more…the funny thing was the best ones came out when I was really down…I am very close to these drawings…they have had such a therapeutic effect …they have been my true friends.
